a bit about me
quien soy yo

soy mexicana + puertorriqueña
mis pronombres son she/her/ella

I am an Emmy-winning journalist from El Paso, TX, skilled in digital editing, podcast creation, production, and hosting. As a people-centered problem solver, I am driven by a passion for fostering connection and taking action—think of me as a compassionate yet energetic activator (Source: Gallup, CliftonStrengths Skills Assessment).

My expertise spans art, housing, homelessness, and social welfare, particularly as they affect communities of color. I focus on issues like mental health in BIPOC communities, health access, and inequities in public policy and social justice.

Guided by ethics and empathy, I blend community engagement, journalism, and education to clarify complex topics. From 2023 to 2024, I worked as WHYY’s multiplatform producer, reporting on housing, health, culture, and art, both on air and online. I also moderated live community events like Bridging Blocks, a civic engagement program, and WHYY’s local version of the "Finding Your Roots" series.

At Kansas City PBS (2018-2023), I led the curiousKC civic engagement series, produced the award-winning TV program Flatland in Focus, and reported on education, health, and culture for the digital magazine Flatland. My media career began with internships at the El Paso Museum of Art, where I scoured through museum archives, wrote art labels and edited for the 2013 Biennial Catalog and, later, on NPR’s Culture Desk.

My work has been featured in WHYY News, Studio 2, Billy Penn, Plan Philly,The Philadelphia Tribune, WESA, on air and online. Previous publications include Kansas City PBS, Flatland KCKCUR, NPR, Alt. Latino and PBS Newshour’s Arts Canvas.
